Non filers of GST returns cannot generate E way bill

Non filers of GST returns will not be able to generate E way bill in near future. GST council in its 31st Council meeting on 22/12/2018 has recommended that for those taxpayers who have not filed the returns for two consecutive tax periods shall be restricted from generating e-way bills.

This recommendation is not yet notified by CBIC. This provision will be notified once GSTN/NIC make available the required functionality in the portal.
